Abstract

South-to-north water transfer is an important project for improving people’s life in China, and the west route is the most complex one in this three routes. In the paper, the compensative operating feasibility was studied by a 3-dimensional joint distribution model. This model is based on the mixed copula function which is mainly used to reach the compensative operating among the water resource and water receiving regions, which is around the west route of south-to-north water transfer. According to the analysis results, the probability of compensative operating is relative to the dry or the plentiful terms of the rivers located in the water resource and water receiving regions. That is to say, the water transfer among rivers is rational, and it can offer favorable terms to the construction for the west route of the south-to-north water transfer.
