Abstract
Objectives To compare the therapeutic effects between open transperitoneal ligation and subinguinal microscopic varicocelectomy for varicocele. Methods Prospective analysis was performed to compare number of spermatic vessels between 98 patients with primary varicocele, who were randomly divided into the observation group (50 cases) and the control group (48 cases) from March 2014 to January 2015 in our hospital. Results Total spermatic veins : observation group were (3.50 ± 1.07) strips , control group were(5.01 ± 1.70) strips, there was statistically significant difference (t=4.570, P=0.00). In the observation group, the number of middle veins (2~5 mm) were (2.98 ± 0.83) strips and the number of middle veins in the control group were (4.08 ± 1.69) strips, the difference was statistically significant (t=3.088, P=0.003). the number of venules (≤2mm), large veins (≥5 mm), arteries and lymph duct was no significant difference (P>0.05). Conclusions The number of total spermatic veins and middle veins on retroperitoneal level was less than on inguinal canal level, and there is no deferens and deferens veins, no cremaster veins on the retroperitoneal level. Veins were inside spermatic cord, so retroperitoneal incision is easier than inguinal canal incision. Key words: Varicocele; Peritoneum; Groin
