Abstract
Few methods are currently available to visualize the entire lymphatic system. We recently developed a method of micromagnetic resonance (MR) lymphangiography (MRL) in mice that uses a dendrimer-based MR imaging (MRI) contrast agent (PAMAM-G8) and a clinical-grade 1.5-Tesla MRI instrument. In the present study, four dendrimer-based MRI contrast agents with different pharmacokinetic characteristics were compared in an attempt to optimize the choice of reagent for specific visualization of the lymphatic system compared with established macromolecular MRI contrast agents, Magnevist (Schering, Berlin, Germany) and Gadomer-17 (Schering), in both normal and disease model mice.
