Abstract
Objective: To compare the anterior chamber depth between eyes operated on using ECCE with continuous circular capsulorhexis (CCC) and intercapsular technique. Study Design: In 71 eyes (61 patients) operated on for cataracts, 37 eyes were by capsulorhexis and 34 by envelope technique and intraocular lens placed in the capsular bag, verified biomicroscopically by cilioscopy. The preoperative and 3–7 month postoperative anterior chamber depth calculated by biometry were compared. The power of the intraocular lens to be implanted was also correlated with the postoperative refractive error. Results: A postoperative increase in the anterior chamber depth was observed in both groups, but the CCC group showed a deeper anterior chamber (1.29 mm) than the envelope group (1.02 mm), the difference being (0.27 mm) significant ( P
