Abstract

This paper discuss a partially grounded circular monopole UWB microstrip patch antenna having an egg-shaped slot for using in Cognitive Radio (CR). Symmetric semi-circular and rectangular notches are made on the monopole to further increase its performance. The UWB antenna works within the unlicensed band 3.1 GHz - 10.6 GHz. It shows 2.96 GHz - 18 GHz return loss bandwidth and 143.51% percentage bandwidth. The antenna structure was implemented and optimized using CST microwave studio full-wave simulation software.
