Abstract

The system must have an appropriate DC-DC converter to function effectively. A good converter must meet eligibility criteria such as low ripple content at both current and voltage; high output voltage and power; low harmonic distortion level; and high efficiency gain with fewer component requirements. Many of the converters are designed to satisfy a few of the aforementioned criteria. This paper aims to select a suitable converter which will possess more possibilities for BLDC drive-based Electric Vehicle (EV) applications. It is necessary to analyse the performance of a converter before suggesting one for a particular use. Different converter topologies are taken into account. The design topology, components used, formulae derived, loss calculations, and output performances are validated in detail. Most of the converters' performances are beyond expectations while choosing the proper component values. The results obtained from the converters with corresponding values are presented and suitable applications are suggested.
