Abstract
This study aims to compare the effects of Pilates (mat or equipment) on improving the QoL of postmenopausal women. To this end, a systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted, for which the search was carried out in PubMed, EMBASE, CENTRAL, CINAHL, Web of Science, LILACS, SportDiscus and PEDro, with no filter limiting the date or language of the publications. The selection was carried out blindly and independently by two reviewers. Randomized clinical trials (RCTs) that sought to investigate the effects of Pilates exercises on the QoL of postmenopausal women were eligible. In total, 11 studies met the eligibility criteria, making it possible to conclude that Pilates can contribute to improving QoL in post-menopausal women, especially when performed on equipment. However, the quality of the evidence found varied from low to very low, requiring caution when interpreting the results.
