Abstract

A circular microstrip antenna has been modified by shorting along the zero field to yield shorted semi-circular and 90° sectoral microstrip antennas. Experimental results on these antennas are presented. The shorted 90° sectoral antenna results in a size reduction of four times without any significant change in performance. The area is further reduced by partially shorting one of the edges of the 90° sectoral antenna.
