Commodification of Meaning in Idioms and the Piil Pesenggiri Philosophy in the Lives of the Indigenous Lampung People

The presence of big companies holding the certificate of cultivation right on lands or <em>hak guna usaha</em> in Mesuji, Lampung has triggered numerous land conflicts. Various efforts have been made, but in fact, they have not been able to resolve the conflicts. A new approach in resolving the conflicts is, thus, needed. This article, using descriptive-qualitative research method, tries to present a new model of resolution of land conflicts in Mesuji, Lampung Province, based on local wisdom called <em>piil pesenggiri</em>, the philosophical values of Lampung people. Piil pesenggiri itself is a sense of self-esteem; it is principles the Lampung people must follow in order to live in dignity. The article argues that the values contained in piil pesenggiri can be used to resolve the land conflicts in Mesuji since they have been inherent in the life of Lampung society. The values are such as <em>juluk adek</em> (principles of success), <em>nemuin yimah</em> (principles of respect), <em>nengah nyappur</em> (principles of equality), and <em>sakai sambayan</em> (principles of cooperation). All those values are a manifestation of peace culture that can be used as a medium of conflict resolution.

The purpose of this study is to explore the possibility of designing digital devices for history learning, with local wisdom content. In this study, the piil pesenggiri is a culture that belongs to the people of Lampung in Indonesia, over time it becomes a custom of the community, in daily life the social life of Lampung people always upholds the values contained in the Piil Pesenggiri. The meaning or value contained in the pesenggiri piil emphasizes the sense and attitude of tolerance between religions and between tribes. Based on history in the 16th century AD, the culture was born after the kingdom of Lampung, the people of Lampung, were conquered by the Islamic kingdom of Minangkabau. The spread of Islam affects the life of the people and the culture that exists, the majority of Lampung people adhere to the Islamic religion and even the meanings contained in the culture as well. To increase understanding of the local values of pesenggiri piil culture, it can be included in Islamic religious subjects, especially "the history of Islamic culture" so that it does not fade with the development of increasingly advanced times. The research method used is literature and archives or documents from the school where the research is.

This research is based on the mindset that any of heterogeneous in a society, they still could be identified based on the values or symbols that referred to them as an ethnic groups. The problem in this research comes from seeing the issues of Lampung ethnic as an experienced local ethnic domination that increasingly being desperate in  their own cultural environment. Ambiguity and vagueness of identity as a local ethnic also reinforced by the attitude of immigrants towards them that affect the relationship between them and if it still left unchecked can potentially lead to conflict. This ethnography research aims to reveal how Lampung ethnic establish their existence of identity through cultural values of Piil Pesenggiri, which upholds the dignity contextually as Lampung identity which carried out in their actions as a strategy of contestation in the immigrant communities. The emergence of a awareness of their identity, reviving Piil Pesenggiri uphold the values of honour in local wisdom become a strategy and a capital that being used when they are dialing with immigrants. In their actualization, the reproduction of Piil Pesenggri still being based on its own basic values such as Pesenggiri, nemui nyimah, nengah nyappor, juluk adok, dan sakai sambayan. Contextually, Piil Pesenggiri become a strategy to manifested their existence as Lampung ethnic and it also used to change the stereotype that immigrants pinned to them with a new value such as (a) changing the work ethic that has been known so low that they are often associated with lazy, less ductile, weak competitiveness, and human resources are still limited; (b) are not stuck with the romance of the past as a landlord; (c) re-interpretation of the titles of nobility (juluk buadek) which has been become the pride and purpose to be achieved in the internal structure so that could be received in the external structure; (d) Piil Pesenggiri become an ethnic identity and politics identity. Piil Pesenggiri is a way of life how ethnic Lampung have to act and behave. For them, Piil Pesenggiri is an identity or reflects the identity so that their existence is recognized and valued in relation to immigrants. In order to confirm their identity as Lampung ethnics, then the actions and strategies they are doing is building a network through the structure of society, also using the idiom of kinship  as a strategy to deal with the migrants so that their existence as an ethnic Lampung still got appreciation in accordance with the values of honour that contained in Piil Pesenggiri.   Key words: Piil Pesenggiri, Reproduction, Identity

This research offers a solution that one of the real forms that can be done by higher education is to strengthen local cultural values, for example the Lampung area with the philosophy of Piil Pesengiri integrated with moderate Islam or Islam Rahmatan Lil a’alamin will be able to counter radical ideals among students. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of the internalization model of local cultural values (Piil Pesenggiri) and moderate Islam in counteracting radicalism in the Student Activity Unit of UIN Raden Intan Lampung. This research use desciptive qualitative approach. The conclusion in this study is the internalization process of Lampung cultural values in UKM UIN Raden Intan Lampung, among others, through the strengthening and strength of local ideology (local Wisdom) ideology such as piil pesenggiri in ulun lepung culture which consists of 5 philosophies, namely nickname adek, meet nyimah, negah nyampur, sakai sambayan and titei gemettei, integrated UKM activities are able to harmonize the existing culture in the customs of the people of Lampung (local wisdom) with Islamic values rahmatan lil allamin so that learning about Islam is also taught about the values of tolerance, the value of diversity. Culture and race, national values (ukuwah watoniyah) so that they are able to motivate the emergence of nationalism as a nation and state and love for the Indonesian homeland. Exemplary Leadership (EL) is the basis for building a school environment in an educational landscape that never stops developing. However, we found that the School Climate (SC) we fight for had not been gotten yet. This study examines the dynamic interactions between EL, Piil Pesenggiri (PP), and SC in educational settings in Indonesia. The research was designed in a quantitative survey, with data collected via Google Forms. The respondents included principals and teachers from 15 districts in Lampung Province. The results of data processing assisted by SEM Amos 23 showed that EL had a direct effect on PP (.800) and a significant impact on SC (.021). EL shows a large and strong direct influence on PP but the influence on SC is 0.21, it turns out that the impact of EL on SC increases to .053 through PP. In this way, PP becomes a mediator for the influence of EL on SC, where PP is local wisdom. The results of this research open up a new understanding of the importance of integrating local wisdom into leadership development programs and coaching potential leaders to navigate and improve the quality of the school climate. This research contributes to school management practices for policymakers, administrators, and practitioners seeking to develop effective educational leadership practices.

This paper describes the construct of Islamic character education based on the local culture of the indigenous Lampung people. Four constructs of character education are presented in the Piil Pesenggiri, namely Nemui Nyimah which contains the character of a sense of acceptance, including; hospitality, hospitality, generosity, courtesy, mutual respect, respect, love for friendship, submission and submission to the Creator of the Universe and His creations. Nengah Nyappur contains adaptive character values ​​in interacting, including; willingness to open up, have a high tolerance, like to deliberate, have an attitude and sociable behavior, easy to get along with, familiar or friendly, and a sense of family. Sakai Sambaiyan contains high solidarity character values, including; mutual assistance, please help, work together, give each other something that is needed by the other party. Juluk Adok contains the spirit of achievement character values, including; persistent and hard working, likes to participate, has an honorary degree. In the context of education, Piil Pesenggiri becomes an inseparable part of the realization of the nation's character education. Piil Pesenggiri becomes a principle of self-esteem which is the culmination and reflection of the accumulation of noble and noble forms of activity amid society. In the context of geneology education in the character of Lampung indigenous people, Piil Pesenggiri can be a measure or dignity for someone amid their life activities. Substantially, Piil Pesenggiri in the context of character education becomes the "pillar of the teacher" that teaches the principles of consistency, acceptance, and equality.

This study aims: to produce a learning model based on Local Wisdom Piil Pesenggiri knowledge that has characteristics that can improve the process skills and values of elementary school characters, produce a science learning model based on Piil Pesenggiri Local Wisdom based on appropriate knowledge to improve process skills and values of elementary school character, produce a model of science learning based on Piil Pesenggiri Local Wisdom which is effective for improving the process skills and characters values of elementary school. This research using the ADDIE step of the Research and Development method. The trial subjects included elementary school grade IV students in Lampung Province. Need assessment data is collected by interview, questionnaire, and observation. The feasibility data of the learning model were collected using a validation sheet questionnaire. Data were analyzed descriptively and statistically. This study's results are expected to make the model of learning science-based on local wisdom Piil Pesenggiri can lead to the development of a learning science model on local wisdom in other regions throughout Indonesia. This development is expected to help students be more interested in learning, understanding their own culture, and becoming students who have good character values.

This article presents the results of research on identifying local genius-based harmony education among the indigenous people of Lampung. The purpose of this study is to describe the noble values in local genius indigenous people of Lampung regarding the activities of a harmonious and peaceful life in the midst of multicultural society. The focus of the study is the philosophy of life in the Piil Pesenggiri tradition. As the "host" of culture, Piil Pesenggiri with its pillars, namely Nemui Nyimah, Nengah Nyappur, Sakai Sambaiyan and Juluk Adok, became the spirit and source of identity, dignity and nobleness of indigenous attitude Lampung. The data in this study were collected through interviews, observation and text review. The results showed that Piil Pesenggiri can play a role in developing the awareness of the importance of group life and encourage cooperation to achieve common goals. The values and philosophy of life contained in Piil Pesenggiri Ulung Lampung is a local genius that can be used as a media of harmony education that is cohesive as an adhesive element of inter-religious, cross-citizen and belief society.

The effort to shape students' character is to revitalize the values of local wisdom in Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to analyze the implementation of the importance of the philosophy of life of the Lampung people (Piil Pesenggiri) in forming environmental-based characters in elementary school students. This type of research is qualitative research with a case study approach. The subjects of this study were the principal, 5 teachers, 18 students in grade 2, 20 students in grade 4, and 17 students in grade 5. Data was obtained through observation, documentation, and interviews. The results of the study are as follows. First, the values of the Piil Pesenggiri are not the priority values that are implemented. Second, in theory, the importance of Piil Pesenggiri is only intensely implemented in Lampung language subjects in high grades. In practice, Piil Pesenggiri's values are integrated throughout the curriculum. Third, the character of the students is quite good. However, students need to be made aware that the values practiced are part of the values of the Pesenggiri Piil. The knowledge and appreciation of students regarding the importance of the Pesenggiri Piil still need to improve, even strangers to the term Pesenggiri Piil as a reference for morality or the original character of the people of Lampung. Implementing Piil Pesenggiri values in practice will only fully shape students' character if accompanied by intense knowing and feeling.

The Lampung tribe is a minority tribe established by Lampung Province. The Lampung Province became a destination for population migration, so Lampung was discussed by Javanese, Sundanese, Balinese and so on. As a minority tribe, the Lampung tribe needs to strengthen its cultural identity among the people so that the cultural values of the Lampung tribe are not lost. Piil pesenggiri is a philosophy of life that has become the cultural identity of the Lampung tribe. The purpose of this study is to explain the principles of piil pesenggiri so that its values can be rebuilt. This article was written in the literature study method with a collection of various sources of books, journals and research on the piil pesenggiri. The results show four principles of piil pesenggiri that need to be revived, namely juluk adek, nemui nyimah, nemui nyapur and sakai sambyan. Cooperation between all parties, namely traditional leaders, community members, academics and the government, is needed to revive the principles of piil pesenggiri.

This article presents about the study of remember and bring it back the local genius based on harmony education among Lampung ethnic society. The purpose of the study was to describe the noble values in local genius Lampung ethnic society regarding the activities of harmonious and peaceful life in the midst of multicultural society. The focus of the study was the philosophy of Lampung people, it was Piil Pesenggiri that had some values: Nemui Nyimah, Nengah Nyappur, Sakai Sambaian, and Juluk Adek/Adok. Those values were hold tight, become spirit, source identity self, dignity, the grandeur of life, etic code/moral (what is Good) in life of Lampung etnic society. This study were collected throught any research paper about Piil Pesenggiri. The results showed that Piil Pesenggiri could play a role in developing the awareness of the importance of group life and encourage cooperation to achieve commons goals.

Local wisdom is a value that is a role model for the people of Lampung. These values are used as guidelines and a way of life for the people of Lampung. In addition, values are also things that must be pursued in order to have a better life. Therefore, cultural experts place the highest cultural value. The values of local wisdom in the people of Lampung are called piil pesenggiri which consists of meeting nyimah, nengah nyappur, sakai sambaian, and nickname adek. This article discusses the issues around the socio-cultural phenomenon that employ interdisciplinary studies between linguistics, anthropology and sociology to study the linguistic behaviors of the Lampungese society in a way to grasp their worldview. The data were technically collected through observation and literature reviews to bring out the voices and experiences of the people who mostly affected by the concept of Piil Pesenggiri, of people whose voices have been missing in literature and debate. The production and reproduction of identity through Piil Pesenggiri seems to remain a finding tradition exist among the Lampungese which primarily resulted both demographic and the local political change allowing emergence of a capitalist strategy "retreatment" used as a form of resistance against the transmigrants. It is not a secret anymore that Piil Pesenggiri which many of us understood as the life philosophy of Lampungese triggers negative stigma amongst other shared races or tribes of transmigrants, it is a shift of viewing piil as a mere "cultural shield" or cultural fortress within their social relations. It then becomes clear that the worldview of the social facts of the community as well as segregation that plunges into the socio-political aspects of society including education, cultural symbols, the political flow of identification of social structures. Todays, the existence of Piil Pesenggiri ethnolinguistically is deemed to reflect cultural capital, a static and contextual product of identity which cannot be separated from the people (ulun) Lampung. The empirical information obtained by this research is expected to be utilized by various stakeholders concerning the problem of relations between ethnic groups in taking the attitude, policy and purposes of a scholarship. Such studies are of course useful not only for reconciliation to conflicts involving the ethnic communities, but also to the ability to maintain a well-created social harmony as well.

Culture is a creative expression reflected in various art forms, such as music, dance and visual arts, that shapes the mindset and actions of individuals in society. Lampung, with its rich culture influenced by various tribes, has rich customary traditions, including the tradition of the Selendang Throwing performed by Mulli Meranai. One of the values contained in this tradition is Piil Pesenggiri, with the element of Nengah Nyappur which teaches the importance of social interaction and cooperation in society. This research aims to explore the application of the value of Nengah Nyappur in the Lempar Selendang tradition in Tulang Bawang Regency, using a descriptive qualitative approach. Through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, this study analyzed the meaning and social interaction in the event. The results showed that Lempar Selendang is not only an entertainment tradition, but also a means to strengthen social relations, introduce culture, and strengthen the value of togetherness in the community. The value of Nengah Nyappur is seen in the form of mutual interaction between participants, both in traditional events and in wider social life, creating strong social harmony among Lampung people. Budaya merupakan ekspresi kreatif yang tercermin dalam berbagai bentuk seni, seperti musik, tarian, dan seni rupa, yang membentuk pola pikir serta tindakan individu dalam masyarakat. Lampung, dengan kekayaan budaya yang dipengaruhi oleh berbagai suku, memiliki tradisi adat yang kaya, termasuk tradisi Lempar Selendang yang dilakukan oleh Mulli Meranai. Salah satu nilai yang terkandung dalam tradisi ini adalah Piil Pesenggiri, dengan unsur Nengah Nyappur yang mengajarkan pentingnya interaksi sosial dan kerjasama dalam masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggali penerapan nilai Nengah Nyappur dalam tradisi Lempar Selendang di Kabupaten Tulang Bawang, dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Melalui observasi partisipatif, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi, penelitian ini menganalisis makna dan interaksi sosial dalam acara tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Lempar Selendang bukan hanya tradisi hiburan, tetapi juga sarana untuk mempererat hubungan sosial, memperkenalkan budaya, serta memperkuat nilai kebersamaan di masyarakat. Nilai Nengah Nyappur terlihat dalam bentuk saling berinteraksi antara peserta, baik dalam acara adat maupun dalam kehidupan sosial yang lebih luas, menciptakan keharmonisan sosial yang kuat di kalangan masyarakat Lampung.

This study reveals and explains about 'Islamic Integralism and the Contribution of Muakhi Culture to World Civilization, which is focused on the relevance of the philosophical values of Local Culture and Lampung Community Development'. The problems are: (1) Are Islamic values integrated with the philosophical values of the local culture as a philosophy of life for the people of Lampung ?; (2) How is the nature of Islamic values integrated with Lampung culture in relation to the life cycle of humans, nature and the environment; (3) How are the philosophical values of local culture (muakhi) relevant to the development of Lampung society. The research aims to uncover and explain the three problems scientifically, objectively, philosophically and academically. The philosophical approach is used to explain problems that must be "understood" and actualized in everyday life. The method used is involved observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation study. Qualitative analysis in the field of philosophy is carried out by interpreting, interpreting, comparing and linking the theory of "Islamic Intergralism and Muakhi Culture" with data that has been processed, criticized and can be applied. The result turns out that Islamic integralism and muakhi culture based on the philosophical values of Lampung's local culture are reality and the work of the perpetrators, so Piil Pesenggiri as a philosophy of life grows and muakhi culture develops in society as a 'local genius' and 'local wisdom' of the nation that is useful for community development and world civilization. The findings of the research, namely: First, Islamic integralism - based on the philosophical values of Muakhi culture as the philosophy of life of indigenous peoples - can contribute to the development of Lampung society. Second, the essence of Islamic values integrated with the life cycle of humans, nature and the environment in the Lampung regional development relations manifests in the development of whole people based on faith, good deeds and virtues that have values for the welfare of society and world civilization in the future. Third, the philosophical values of local culture (muakhi) have relevance and can contribute positively and significantly to the development of Lampung society.
