Abstract

Four different analytical approaches for converting X-ray production cross sections to ionisation cross sections have been discussed and compared. The effects of the choice of fluorescence yields, the Coster-Kronig transitions and the subshell branching ratios are given. Results are presented for 1 to 3 MeV He+ bombardment of thin and thick targets between dysprosium and uranium
