Abstract

I read with interest the article by Moellhoff et al entitled “The Impact of Breast Symmetry on Eye Movement and Gaze Pattern: An Eye-Tracking Investigation.” 1 Even though breast-related surgeries are among the most commonly performed procedures in plastic surgery, there is still much to know about evaluating breast aesthetics. The currently widely recognized concepts, such as the 45:55 ratio set by Mallucci, provide us with some general understanding of breast beauty.2 Still, when considering the complexity of this term, it can be said that we merely see the tip of the iceberg. It seems there is much more that meets the eye. The mentioned paper sets out to expand our knowledge about the process of visual assessment of breast appearance by utilizing eye-tracking (ET) technology.
