Abstract
The following is a short commentary on and correction of misstatements and misunderstandings in Anabel Ford's review of my book, Rio Azul: An Ancient Maya City, in American Anthropologist (103[2]:544). I shall not deal with all of her misperceptions. Ford is entitled to her opinion of my writing style (almost as if it were a compilation of National Geographic coverage of '80s), although I only published one article on Rio Azul in National Geographic (Adams 1986).
