Abstract

A formulation of the local lattice model of liquid structure, due to Prins, was applied recently to the interpretation of experimental scattering data for liquids. However the theoretical expression obtained for S( k) has a wrong asymptotic behavior in the small- k range. A different formulation based on a general theory of spatial random processes produces an expression for S( k) which has the correct asymptotic behavior. The possible extensions and modifications of the model within this theory are pointed out.
