Abstract

The recent paper by Tamang, Abdikian and Saha ((2020) Physica Scripta 95 105 604), about weakly nonlinear electron-acoustic waves in magnetized plasmas where the hot electrons have a Tsallis nonextensive distribution, is unfortunately marred by serious deficiencies. The proper limits imposed by a one-dimensional Tsallis distribution and by a reductive perturbation treatment were not taken into account correctly. Consequently, some results were unphysical. Why in a magnetized plasma the hot electrons should be described by a one-dimensional distribution is not discussed.
