Abstract

The conventional histopathologic examination of a primary tumor does not predict the potentiality for invasiveness and recurrence of a superficial low-grade transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder. We have utilized combined cell surface antigens and chromosomal analysis to predict the natural history of the bladder cancer in 20 patients in a double blind study. In this preliminary report it appears that both cell surface antigens and chromosomal abnormalities correlate' well with the stages and grades of bladder cancer.
