En aquest treball es presenten cinc experiències per a treballar la salut del sòl en diferents etapes educatives, que han estat considerades com a bones pràctiques en el context del projecte Literacy boost through an Operational Educational Ecosystem of Societal actors on Soil health (LOESS). S’hi presenta una breu descripció, tenint en compte els seus objectius, l’enfocament i perquè és important destacar-les. Prèviament, es presenta el context del projecte LOES a Catalunya i el procés de selecció d’aquestes cinc experiències. Malgrat l’actual convenciment, gairebé generalitzat, sobre la importància d’educar la consciència ambiental i els coneixements coherents amb ella, el sòl continua essent un gran oblidat. Les activitats que es presenten en aquest article poden ajudar com a orientació i inspiració per treballar la salut del sòl a les aules.

The LOESS project to boost soil health literacy across Europe: The case of Italy

The Horizon Europe project LOESS ‘Literacy boost through an Operational Educational Ecosystem of Societal actors on Soil health’ officially started in June 2023 involving twenty partner organizations in fifteen countries across Europe, lead by the WILA Bonn Science Shop. The final goal of the project is to raise awareness on the importance of soil and of its functions and to increase soil literacy across Europe. To do so, the first step of the project activity is designed to map and connect multiple actors in Communities of Practice (CoPs) at the national level, and engage them to provide an overview of the current level of soil related knowledge and teaching programmes and materials, in order to identify the gap between this material and the educational needs amongst different levels of the society (from pupils to students to citizens). The Italian chapter is led by two university research groups with different expertise (civil and environmental engineering at the University of Brescia on one hand and social sciences at the University of Sassari on the other) and one NGO (Controvento) whose mission is children not-formal education. The Italian CoP, led by the University of Brescia, is composed of 62 members from both the higher education and the research community, as well as from the primary and secondary education levels (teachers and pupils), from the productive sectors (farmers and spatial planners), from the politics world (local administrators) and from the civil society (NGOs and associations). This contribution presents the activities performed so far, viz the stakeholder mapping, the creation of the CoP and its first meetings and the community-based participatory activity which was organized on the World Soil Day 2023.

A Career Ecosystem Perspective on Societal and Organizational Characteristics and Careers to the Top in Higher Education

ABSTRACTThe context in which careers develop is attracting increasing scholarly attention. Building on career ecosystem theory, we examine how societal and organizational actors within career ecosystems influence the development of careers. In our study of university leaders in 60 countries, we find that career trajectories are more similar within than across countries and that the overall organizational context relates to the similarity of career trajectories within the career ecosystem. We identify six distinct career patterns to the top of organizations within the ecosystem of higher education (e.g., ‘university president’ or ‘rector’). Furthermore, we identify several societal and organizational characteristics that are related to the prevalence of specific career patterns. Key findings include that academic leaders' careers tend to follow career patterns within the same organization in countries with low power distance, low labour market flexibility and low meritocracy, as well as in universities with less research focus. Our findings add to the literature on career ecosystems and advance the understanding of career paths to the top of organizations, using the case of academic careers.
