Abstract

The Museum Program Guidelines for 1974, a sort of handbook outlining the “How To …” of National Endowment for the Arts and National Council on the Arts funds, sets forth the ground rules for the coming year. Of necessity, application rules and procedures are fairly complicated, and museum personnel would do well to get a copy in their own hands as soon as possible. The Guidelines may be obtained from the Museum Program, National Endowment for the Arts, Washington, D.C. 20506, or by phoning (202) 382–5927, if the deadlines seem to be closing in. Matching Funds are a governing principle of almost all these grant possibilities, so the funds requested must never total more than one-half of the project's estimated budget, which must also be submitted. In some cases, the amount of the grant may be doubled by the use of freed Treasury Funds (if such use is applicable), but the proportion of the grant to the total must remain at one-half or less.
