Abstract
The College is championing the introduction of an innovative approach to reducing alcoholrelated admissions to NHS emergency departments and trauma centres. A new policy was published in April, based in part on the research of Professor Jonathan Shepherd, College fellow and Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in Cardiff, and his colleagues. It encourages NHS trauma teams to provide structured advice to patients during the course of treatment for alcohol-related injuries.
