Abstract

A novel coherent jamming method with time modulated technology against wideband linear frequency modulation (LFM) radar is proposed in this paper. With periodic modulation of radio frequency switches, the received radar signal can be modulated as the summation of multiple harmonic components with the same LFM slope, and these harmonic components can be transmitted as the jamming signal. By properly setting the modulated frequency, the jamming signal generated by the time modulation can form multiple verisimilar false targets when received and processed by the victim radar receiver due to the harmonics' independence in the time-frequency domain. Assuming that the pulse compression technology is used by the victim radar, the closed-form expression of the jamming processing is derived. Numerical simulations are provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed jamming method.
