Abstract

Considerable work has now been generated on the testing of the Kirton Adaption-Innovation Inventory (KAI), much of which has the effect of relating this measure to other personality measures. The Cattell Sixteen Personality Factor Inventory (16PF) is one of the major measures of personality which purports to cover the whole personality domain. The KAI is now related to it with the aims of locating cognitive style in the personality domain and testing for the completeness of its description. The nature of the personality characteristics underlying cognitive style are sharpened, and some revelations derived as to how these preferred styles are consistent with underlying personality traits.
