Abstract

To the Editor: Hyperkeratotic palmoplantar eczema (HPE) is a chronic condition that is characterized by sharply demarcated hyperkeratosis, often with painful fissuring, typically seen on the palm of the hands or volar surface of the fingers.1 Palmar hyperkeratosis is also seen in other dermatoses, including palmoplantar psoriasis (PP) and mycosis fungoides of the palms (mycosis fungoides palmaris et plantaris [MFPP]). To assess for microscopic features specific for a given entity, 12 cases of HPE, 5 cases of PP, and 9 cases of MFPP with characteristic clinical and histopathologic features were selected retrospectively.
