Abstract

Manufacturing resources-capabilities, competences or actual resources-involved in the whole life cycle of manufacturing are provided to the users within Cloud Manufacturing by encapsulating them into cloud services, so that centralized collaboration between enterprises can take place. This concept is mainly based upon proved technologies of Cloud Computing (CC), Service-oriented architecture (SOA-XaaS – Everything as a Service), the Internet of Things (IoT), high-performance computing (HPC) and virtualization. The focus of this paper is to conduct a state-of-the-art analysis based on a structured literature review to identify overlapping key characteristics and definitions, the status quo of research activity and potential research gaps.
