Abstract

Objective To explore diagnosis and treatment of endobronchial hamartoma and improve clinical understanding. Methods Two cases with endobronohial hamartoma from 2009 to 2010 were collected. Its clinical and radiologic features, bronchoscopy, histological findings and treatment were discussed. The related literatures were also reviewed. Results Most patients with endobronchial hamartoma were elderly and presented with chest distress or recurrent respiratory infection. CT scan showed soft tissue with high density in airway. Endobronchial hamartoma could be diagnosed by electronic bronchoscope and histopathology and successfully resected by transbronchial endoscopic surgery. Conclusions The clinical symptoms of endobronchial hamartoma are not typical, early bronchoscopy and biopsy are necessary and bronchoscopy intervention is satisfactory. Key words: Endobronchial hamartoma; Electronic bronchoscope; Histopathology
