Abstract

Climate finance has a significant role in sustainable economy. In this systematic review, 80 journal articles related to climate finance of the last two decades (1999-2019) had been reviewed from the sources of Web of Science and Scopus. This review had selectively categorised the existing literature on climate finance into three broad issues, that is, donor-related issues, and recipient related issues and common issues. The study had identified eight sub-issues (accounting issues, political issues, governance issues, allocation issues, bias issues, issues related to the burden of climate finance, recipient issues, and financial management issues) in connection with major issues in climate finance. This study concluded that many of the issues were unresolved and identified the under-researched areas like accounting challenges, donor domination, gender issues, human rights, and weakness of local institutions and allocation model issues as the futuristic areas of research in relation with climate finance issues.
