Abstract

This paper describes the classification of pesticide residues in the agricultural products based on the Fourier transform infrared diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (FT-IR-DRS) for food safety inspection. FT-IR-DRS is a nondestructive measurement method to be able to measure the spectrum of sample rapidly. Spectra of strawberries measured by FT-IR-DRS were categorized into four classes based on the concentration of the pesticide residue, and the classification model of spectra was constructed by soft independent modeling of class analogy (SIMCA). The concentration of pesticide residues of unknown samples was evaluated by applying the spectra of unknown samples to the classification model.
