Abstract
Novel ternary preferred pairs (TPPs) that have a greater zero correlation duration (ZCD) of (0.75N + 1) for a period N are constructed by applying selected zero padding to binary preferred pairs with ZCD of (0.5N + 1). A chip-shift operation is then performed to derive new ternary ZCD sequences that have superior family size to that of binary ZCD sequences.
