Abstract

Systolic function in diastolic heart failure (DHF) is defined as the preserved left ventricular (LV) systolic function without LV volume remodelling. However, several studies have reported LV systolic dysfunction in DHF using tissue and pulse Doppler echocardiography and speckle tracking techniques, including our reports on isovolumetric cardiac time interval prolongation in DHF (Table). Recently, some studies have also reported a relationship between arterial stiffness and diastolic dysfunction.
