Abstract

Abstract Parametric x-rays (PXR) and other than PXR radiation mechanisms resulting from periodical structure of a crystal target can be used for development of quasi-monochromatic tunable x-ray source for medical imaging. We present numerical calculations of spectral-angular density and angular distributions of x-rays producing by relatively low energy electron beam of a medical accelerator. Calculations were performed for silicon crystals depending on target thickness and diffraction geometry for the purpose of optimal choice of x-rays generation conditions. Production technology and parameters of thin (down to sub-micron thickness) Si targets are presented.
