Abstract

Abstract The influence is described of asymmetric boundary conditions on the field-induced director patterns of twisted chiral-nematic layers. In the weak anchoring case the surface tilt angles as well as the coupling constants may be different. The different boundary conditions break the symmetry of the director patterns. The position of the extreme director tilt becomes voltage dependent.
