Abstract

The rise of new media has accelerated the dissemination of information, enabling people to access news and knowledge quickly. Online platforms such as TikTok offer a wealth of educational content, facilitating widespread access to resources such as online courses and video tutorials. This research aims to study the motivations and attitudes of Chinese undergraduates towards English learning on TikTok by using the questionnaire method. The study found that Chinese undergraduates have a positive attitude towards learning English on TikTok and intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. This paper also discusses some problems with English short videos on TikTok, providing students with valuable suggestions to help them better identify and select high-quality knowledge short videos to achieve the expected learning results.
