The lay public has been so well educated to the fact that eyestrain and diseases of the eye are frequent causes of that it will go to the ophthalmologist; the otologist, too, has his turn because of the belief that sinus headache is common. The problem of is a difficult one because of the multiplicity of conditions of which it is the outstanding symptom. From the standpoint of the internist, not only the diagnosis is difficult but the therapeutic problem is often more so. If he limits himself to any one of the fields of medicine in which is important, he is likely to fail to arrive at a conclusion in a given case.
