Abstract

Undersea World of Jacques was a popular television series by late scientist, explorer, and filmmaker who died earlier this year. His life on ocean brought importance of ecology of sea to fore for many people around world. The popularity of marine biologist, however, created a trapping affectionately known as the Cousteau syndrome, in which most people are led to believe that biology is only science of sea. But sea encompasses more than just biology. It is also about chemistry, geology, physics, and meteorology. Just as study of sea is intrinsically multidisciplinary, marine world is also more than water you see while skimming along in a boat or peering out of an airplane window.
