Abstract

Chemisorption of molecular oxygen on copper clusters is investigated within the local spin density approximation, using a self-consistent jellium approach and MO-LCAO calculations. The presented results show that the simple jellium model describes the chemisorption process in a satisfactory manner and is able to explain the main trends in the measured chemisorption properties of O 2 on copper clusters.
