Abstract
Various oxindoles were efficiently synthesized via Fe-mediated hydrometallation-cyclization of N-arylacrylamides. The reactions were found to proceed in good yields in the presence of FeCl3 and NaBH4 in 1,2-dimethoxyethane at 70 °C in a flask open to the air.
