Abstract
Abstract Aromatic aldehydes react with ketones to produce(E)-1-aryl-1-alkenes via a tandem Aldol-Grob cleavage reaction sequence. The reaction, initiated by boron trifluoride, also produces a carboxylic acid fragment.
