Abstract

Effects of diverse substances in the colorimetric analysis of F- by zirconium-alizarin method and the analytical results of Iizaka-Hot Springs were investigated. (1) As to the effects of Fe2+, Al3+, Mn2+, PO43- and alkalinity the same results as hitherto known were obtained, but regarding the effect of SO42- a different result was obtained. (2) It was found that the analytical result of F- at pH below 2.85 by this method is unreliable and some new information about the effects of K+, Na+, Ca2+, Mg2+ and BO2- was obtained. (3) Analytical results of F- in Iizaka Hot Spring should be correct, because the samples diluted by distilled water were used and the same results has been obtained by the method of Th (NO3)4 titration.
