Abstract
AbstractAn enriched alkaloidal fraction from harmal seeds was prepared as iodide derivative, and fractionated by preparative TLC. Three compounds were obtained: harmine, harmaline and harmalol. The biological activity of the iodide derivative and the three compounds were assessed on the cotton leaf worm. Correlation between the biological activity and chemical structure was postulated.
