Abstract

New experimental data on near-threshold production of η-mesons in the d d → α η reaction are extrapolated to below threshold using a low energy scattering length model. Combining this with the signal suggested for the charge-symmetry- breaking d d → α π 0 reaction, yields a value of the η − π 0 mixing angle which is compatible with other determinations, through with large systematic error bars. The consequences of this for isospin-violation in other reactions are also explored.
