Abstract

A series of modified poly(tetramethylene succinate)s (PTS) was synthesized by introducing aromatic diester segments into a polymer chain. The high-molecular weight modified PTSs (copolyesters) were blended with starch; and mechanical properties of the copolyester and its blends were measured. The biodegradation of copolyesters and the blends of the copolyester and starch were traced using soil-burial and CO2release tests. The results show that the blends have good biodegradability.
