Abstract

The production of biodiesel also obtained a lot of attention due to it can be an alternative fuel to replace the diesel and can be used without modification of the engine. The impregnation method was used to prepare alumina-ferric oxide in an aloe vera's crude extract that assists by sonication. Alumina-ferric oxide was used in photocatalytic transesterification process. The compound in biodiesel was determined using FTIR, and the physicochemical of biodiesel was analysed, which are FFA, acid value, saponification value, density, specific gravity, and API gravity. In conclusion, gas chromatography analysis shows that the obtained biodiesel is rich with monounsaturated fatty acid in it. While FTIR analysis shows the different spectrum of WCO and biodiesel, which proved the conversion of the ester group in WCO into biodiesel. Lastly, it shows that density, specific gravity, API gravity and saponification value meet the requirement by a standard and previous study. While the value of free fatty acid and acid value shows above the standard and previous study given.
