Abstract

Although the CME event of 1997 Jan 7–10 caused a magnetic storm of merely mediate intensity, it gave rise to very strong geophysical effects and modulated the observed intensity of Galactic cosmic rays. This paper describes and briefly analyses the characteristics of the variation of Galactic cosmic ray intensity in several directions as recorded with the multi- directional scintillation telescope at Guangzhou Cosmic Ray Station.
