Abstract

Extraction of retinal blood vessels from the fundus images is a fundamental key toward the accurate visualization, early identification, and fast diagnosis of several pathologies. Recent research in biomedical engineering has opened up a window that connects eye, heart, and brain, which enhances the role of retinal blood vessels. In its early stages, several diseases show no symptoms, which make them incurable toward the final stages. Early identification of such maladies is only possible if retinal blood vessels are finely observed, and that is the major motive behind this research. This calls for the need for a strong and automatic algorithm to extract blood vessels from the fundus images.
