Abstract

One of the vital uses of cogeneration and polygeneration systems is the chemical and process industries. Operating these plants needs large amounts of power, heating, and cooling. The optimal design and cogeneration and polygeneration systems that integrate with process units are complicated, because these systems are needed to supply the heat, cooling, and power demands for each process. In addition, targeting approaches have been introduced, which promote design engineers to find the promising improvement options prior to detailed design. Total Sites integration is a development of the pinch technology and has been applied widely in different industries.
