Abstract
Radiation doses to the Japanese population from inhalation of contaminated air, skin irradiation, terrestrial, and marine food contamination are estimated and compared with other sources of anthropogenic (global fallout, Chernobyl accident) and natural radioactivity (radon and decay products, gamma-radiation, cosmic radiation, natural radionuclides in food, etc.) and medical applications of ionizing radiation (X-ray tests, CT tests, etc.). The estimated radiation doses due to the Fukushima accident are generally below the levels which could cause health damage of the Japanese and world population.
