Abstract

Thermal management of batteries is a key issue of great significance in operation of batteries. The chapter introduces so-called state functions, the problem of heat generation and the proper operating temperature range. Various methods to maintain an acceptable temperature by various cooling methods are presented. Modeling and experimental approaches are discussed. Also the relevance of multiscale modeling is put forward and available software are mentioned briefly.
