Abstract

Testing the cognitive abilities of Hispanic clients who speak English, as well as Spanish-speaking clients residing in the United States requires cultural sensitivity and appropriate tools. This chapter discusses issues related to testing these clients with the WISC-V US English and Spanish editions. The influence of parent education level on the measurement of cognitive abilities is highlighted, and WISC-V base rates for a stratified sample of Hispanics in the United States are provided. The chapter also includes a review of the Adjusted Scores for the WISC-V US Spanish, and concludes with a brief note on the use of interpreters.
