Abstract
This chapter gives detailed explanation on the various methods used to analyze bioaerosol samples. It starts by explaining the importance of selecting a good sampling technique for effective and useful downstream analysis. It then explains various culture-based and culture-independent analytical methods for bioaerosols, highlighting their strengths and limitations. The deployment of biosensor-based analytical methods and microfluidics for bioaerosol analysis is comprehensively explained, while various hybrid technologies designed to ensure improved accuracy, sensitivity, and rapid detection and identification of bioaerosol samples are also enunciated. The last part of this chapter is dedicated to review various gene-based methodologies (PCR, qPCR, RT-qPCR, dPCR, and metagenomics) and their applications in bioaerosol analysis.
