Abstract

Managing electronic health records (EHRs) in today's world is a major task. Data loss, data security, data management, data sharing, interoperability, privacy, and data retrieval are the issues with traditional EHR systems. The various centralized techniques, including cloud-based approaches, address these concerns. This literature presents them and their advantages and disadvantages. This chapter will focus on data storage, data sharing, decentralized management, access control, and data security, as well as other blockchain capabilities. The healthcare industry can benefit from a variety of blockchain functions and capabilities. Blockchain tracks the attribution of digital assets and addresses the aforementioned issues. The decentralized structure of blockchain makes data management simple. Its security feature allows secure transactions, which lowers fraud. Despite the many benefits, there are many obstacles to overcome when it comes to revisions and implementation of existing systems. Interoperability, scaling, cost-effectiveness, security, privacy, and confidentiality are also discussed.
