Abstract

This chapter focuses on pressure-retarded osmosis and osmotic heat engine. Effects of design and operating parameters on specific energy generation, power density, and process efficiency are discussed. Solute selection and possible couplings are reviewed. Outlook of this renewable technology is briefly commented.
