Abstract
This chapter is devoted to completely describing layers and associated tools such as colors and linetypes. It begins with the introduction of the Layers dialog box and how to create, delete, and rename layers. A discussion on colors follows, with Index Color, True Color, and Color Books mentioned. The layer discussion concludes with Freeze/Thaw, On/Off, and Lock/Unlock capabilities. Linetypes are discussed next, including how to create and assign new ones to layers. The chapter concludes with a discussion on properties and the ability to alter drawn geometry via the Properties palette, the Match Properties icon, and the Layers toolbar. An architectural drawing assignment is included at the end of the chapter with step by step instructions.
